Seal Primary celebrates receiving the Gold Rights Respecting Award from UNICEF UK

Seal Primary School achieves UNICEF UK's  Prestigious Gold Rights Respecting Award

We are delighted to announce that Seal CE Primary School has once again been awarded a UNICEF UK Gold Award.

The Rights Respecting Schools Award is given to schools that demonstrate a commitment to promoting and realising children's rights, as well as encouraging adults, children, and young people to respect the rights of others in the school community.  GOLD is the highest accolade awarded by UNICEF UK, signifying a deep and thorough commitment to children's rights at all levels of school life.  Currently, there are just over 600 schools across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales that have received GOLD status!

Hannah Knipe, Wellbeing Teacher & Rights Respecting Coordinator at Inspire Academy Movement Trust, said, "For Seal, achieving Gold status again in 2025, after first receiving it in 2018, is a true testament to the entire school community - pupils, staff and families.  It shows that we can still proudly call ourselves a Gold Rights Respecting School."

Hannah continues, "Not only do our children recognise the rights they have themselves, but also the rights of children all over the world. We see examples of children thinking of others, picking up litter at lunchtimes, supporting charities in their own time and outside of school, demonstrating what it means to be a good global citizen. At Seal, we know that respect is one of our school values and its importance in our school life. This award further affirms that commitment."

Congratulations to all the children at Seal Primary, and a big shout-out to our Rights Respecting Ambassadors, who include children from across the year groups. You really deserve this accolade.
